Event: Disney on Ice

Its still the last 10 days of Ramadan so attending this event is going to be difficult, even though Id really love to go. I would be very unfair of me not to share this with you.

Disney On Ice skates into the GrandWest Grand Arena for another action-packed ice spectacular from Wednesday, 23 to Sunday, 27 July 2014.

The show is aptly titled 100 Years of Magic and, as the name suggests, it celebrates the beloved storytelling franchise’s century of producing animated films and breathing life into some of cinema’s most recognisable characters. With Mickey and Minnie Mouse as guides, the spectacle promises to whisk audiences, both young and old, away on a captivating journey through decades of famous tales, magical worlds and some 60 of Disney’s most renowned stars.

Along this stroll down memory lane, audiences can look forward to seeing the key characters and singing along to tunes from all-time blockbuster and family-favourite films, like The Lion King, Aladdin, Toy Story, The Incredibles, Beauty and the Beast, Mulan and Finding Nemo.

Fly on a magic carpet and discover a whole new world with Aladdin and crew, fight crime and bad guys with a family of Incredibles and explore the Pride Lands with Simba, Timon and Pumbaa. After that, take on some hairy beasts and conquer your fears with Belle and Mulan before heading down to the bottom of the ocean for an aquatic adventure with Nemo and friends.

Even if your little ones aren’t familiar with the tales of the Beauty and the Beast or Aladdin though, they’ll love the upbeat sing-a-long tunes and adorable characters synonymous with Disney’s happy endings and exciting journeys. What’s more, the first-rate production’s team of international award-winning figure skaters, high-energy choreography and imaginative set changes will surely transport audiences into the animated movies that childhood dreams are made of.

Hands down, this show is an experience that remains a not-to-be-missed calendar highlight.

Tickets are available via Computicket.com and Computicket outlets and cost between R150p/p and R350p/p. Ticket prices vary according to seated proximity to the ice rink and day of the show. Disabled patrons can be accommodated.
Doors open 1 hour before the show; the performance is 3 hours long and includes a 20-minute interval.
