Chapmans Peak

To me, Friday is Date day/night. Last week(I know this post is delayed) My person and I headed off to HoutBay (Watch this space for the next post) and ended up driving home via Chapman's Peak. The Scenic route.
Now for those of you who don't know:

Chapman’s Peak Drive winds it way between Noordhoek and Hout Bay on the Atlantic Coast on the south-western tip of South Africa.it's one of the most spectacular marine drives in the world.
The 9km route, with its 114 curves, skirts the rocky coastline of Chapman’s Peak (593m), which is the southerly extension of Constantiaberg and is a great hike for the energetically inclined.

Chapman’s Peak Drive is affectionately known as “Chappies” and is a must for anyone who is passionate about the majestic Cape Town scenery, with sheer drops to the sea below and towering mountains rising above you. The twists and curves in the road seem endless and it is a photographers dream. It is a paradise for motorists, sightseers, picnickers, runners, hikers and bikers (both the motorised and the manual varieties).

Now usually when I do Chapman's peak I dont really do the hiking trails and the little picnic spots (Which is adorable) so I decided it was time to go and see what I was apparently missing.

My person: "Really Tabassum...You wanna walk? "
Me: "Psssh Yes I wanna walk! I have the rest of the drive home to complain about it..."

And to be totally honest, I dont regret it one bit!
We took a trail as I spotted an abandoned building thing that I just needed to check out and ended up really far from the one I originally wanted to go to but found another one equally as epic!

It was so cool (And a great place to take photo's) I wanted to stay. We sat inside and just embraced the view. Also imagined living there (Waddup Qiyamat se Qiyamat Tak movie reference!)
Anyway...
(Oh and take your picnic basket there. So fab!)

Dont judge my balding head!
Along the way at stops there's guy that sell little key rings that you just have to buy even though you have 8352 at home already. Peer pressure.
Also I think it was kind of racist that This guy tried to sell me a Chilli.

Pssssh! Bought it anyway.

A Big THANK YOU to my photographer who stopped the car every 2minutes because I insist I need a picture from every angle (And for always having patience with me). But also A Big 'Tigger Please!' for making me beg you to send it to me. (Hence why I dont have all the pictures in this blogpost my lovelies).
Will have to do for now.

Chapman's Peak is the perfect place to go if you feel like bunking campus or work or whatever you do. Perhaps to have a heart to heart conversation with your loved one? Or if you, like me, Sometimes need to take in the beauty of nature and find perspective.

Chapman's Peak is all about the view.

Cant wait for you to check it out. Do let me know if you do happen to go.

Gaza under attack

Its nothing new hearing about Palestine being under attack. Its been going on for as long as I can remember. I was probably in Grade 5 when I went to my first march against the ordeals the Palestinians are going through. For the past few days my newsfeed on all social media platforms has been bombed bombarded with gruesome pictures of the civilians being tortured and killed mercilessly. I can hardly look at most of them without getting all teary eyed and squeamish.

Alhamdullilah, By the grace of God, I joined over 30 000 people on Wednesday morning who gathered in Cape town for a march  to free Palestine. "Forward we shall march. Forward we shall march. Forward we shall march to a free ,free palestine"was the song of the day all the way through to parliament. It was heartwarming to see people from all ethnic backgrounds and religions standing together for a united cause. The peaceful protest went on for about 2 hours. We have entered the last 10 days of fasting and the best would be to pray for our brothers and sisters in Gaza.

I loved how a prayer was done by different religious leaders to start the march on a high note.
The amount of people that attended spoke for itself.
According to Tashreeq Truebody from Radio786 the death toll now stands at 292 in 11 days of Israeli onslaught. YOu dont have to be muslim to stand up for Gaza, You just need to be human.

Anyone wanting to assist can do so by making a donation to The Gift of the Givers foundation that contributes towards medical supplies in Palestine.

Check out their website at : http://www.giftofthegivers.org/

Let us bow our heads, even if just for a minute and pray for the souls who were matryed and those going through this difficult time.

'The fault in our stars' and 'A walk to remember'

Twitter started irritating me with all these "The fault in our stars" references and I told myself I needed to go watch it as all this spoiler alerts around me was even more annoying. So now I knew the synopsis of the story and to me it sounded pretty much like "A walk to remember". (Another movie which I happen to love)

So I found myself at the movies with a dear friend of mine and as we watched, I noticed all the similarities between the two movies. I then proceeded to Google it and apparently im not the only one who thought so.
Both movies get to me every time(yes I have now watched both more than a million times) as we recently lost a family friend to cancer. And because I cry for everything. Psssh.

So 21 ways The fault in our stars & A walk to remember is practically the same movie
(Thank you Buzzfeed.com)
(P.s It was a nightmare aligning the pictures ...but just go with it)

1. To start off, both films involve two star-crossed lovers and one tries to warn the other not to fall for them.

2. But they find they are even more unhappy when not together, creating an impossible situation.

3. So they acknowledge their feelings once and for all.

4. And decide to move forward, despite the inevitable consequences.

5. Predictably, the result involves a LOT of tears.

6. But they decide to live for every moment and do things they wouldn’t ordinarily do.

7. They spend a lot of time outdoors, via romantic picnics.

8. And they constantly stop and admire each other’s beauty.

9. They manage to be intimate in a non-sexual way.

10. Their first kiss is spontaneous (and in public) because they just couldn’t hold back their feelings anymore.

11. And their first real physical encounter is adorably awkward and impossibly endearing.

12. Besides the physical, though, they look beyond the present and see the larger picture.

13. They definitely don’t take everything literally.

Landon helps Jamie with her bucket list by getting her a fake tattoo and taking her to a border so she can be “in two places at once.” And Augustus has that whole cigarette thing.

14. Instead, they teach each other to be brave.

15. And they support each other when bad news strikes.

16. The people around them see their love as an incredible force.

17. Because, despite all odds, they see the beauty in their bond.

18. And, even with the pain, they’re eternally appreciative of the experience.

19. Because, thanks to the other person, they’ve changed for the better. And they’ll never forget them

20. Both movies have really cool soundtracks.

21. Both movies had someone cutting onions in the cinema causing my eyes to water like crazy.

Okay? Okay.
