Woodies- Burgers

If you looking for the best burger joint in Cape Town it gives me great pleasure to announce that I have found it for you. Yeah yeah...You're welcome.

A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine who is quite the Foodie himself sent me a picture of a gigantic burger. You know, the kind you see on 'Guy's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on The Food Network channel and I needed some serious proof that the picture he sent me was infact taken in Cape Town. So I made him swear that It was 100% legit or I would Never talk to him again.

Weeks later I find myself liking the Woodies Facebook Page and following the Twitter account and im in awe! I HAVE TO GO THERE RIGHT NOW!!! Yesterday after studying for a million hours My Person and I headed to the VnA Waterfront Food Market to see what the hype is about.

OMG I CANT BELIEVE WE HERE. "Are you ready?" I ask him as if we doing something extreme like adopting a child or voting for...lets not go there. It takes us a few minutes to decide what we want as everything on the menu sounds amazeballs. Rafeeq, My new friend that works there ;) was more than happy to offer guidance and once we decided took the liberty of keeping us company as we watched them make our burgers live in action.

Woodies started as a business run from home. They recently opened the store in March and have been doing quite well for themselves. According to Rafeeq, weekends are a madhouse. Oh right ,excuse me I forgot that this was the part where I showed you why:
This burger is the size of my face! And wait for it...This isnt even the biggest one!

Truly a hidden gem
I love that I could see how it was done
My triple stack (R60)
ALL HAIL THE COLOSSUS (R70)
Add that my dears is what you call a burger!
I eat Mcdonalds with a knife and fork(Im not joking!) so when I had to eat this monster of a burger it required alot of effort and alot of messing! Best experiance ever. Rafeeq suggested we eat the burger upside down which is honestly the best advise as the bottom bun isnt as strong as the top to hold up the structure. I still couldnt come to terms with how no-ones mouth could ever open wide enough to get a proper bite. Or well atleast Ive never had to open my mouth that wide ;). At the end of it all, I ended up eating it as a bunny chow and didnt even finish it all (I know, I know i'm weak) but it really impressed me and I couldnt wait to share pictures with everyone. Also the fries are really good too but I swear you'll be so into your burger nothing else will matter.

Ive already got plans to go back. My friend are super psyched to try it out now. I know you dying to try them too! :)

Halaal: 100%
Vibe: Food Lovers and People up for the challange (Perfect for a lunch with your besties)
Service: Really good
Overall experiance: Out of this world.

Truth. Coffee

This morning I was already in town at 7am. Yes because campus gives me no life Pssssh!

I headed off to Truth Coffee in Buitenkant street for my morning glory with my grumpy-before-I-get-my-coffee person and absoluetly loved it. I often walked past the place on my way home and always said i'd go in someday. Well someday came and it was amazing! A steam-punk retro feel with an edge. I felt like I walked into another era. The rich coffee aroma's was incredible and there was so much to see in store. Old typewriters and blasts from the past. I didnt want to sit downas i felt there was so much to occupy my brain with. I moved around like a kid that couldnt sit still. From the couch to the table...to the awesome bar. Yeah I had coffee at a bar 'cause i'm badass like that. ;)
Love the old school tables and chairs outside

A woman

A lot of men think they are doing women a favor by asking for her hand in marriage, but let’s think about this :
she changes her name,
changes her home,
leaves her family,
moves in with you,
builds a home with you,
gets pregnant for you,
pregnancy changes her body,
she gets fat,
almost gives up in the labor room due to the unbearable pains of child birth,
even the kids she delivers bear your name.
Till the day she dies...everything she does, (cooking, cleaning your house, taking care of your parents, bringing up your children, earning, advising you, ensuring you can be relaxed, maintaining all family relations, everything that benefit you.....sometimes at the cost of her own health , hobbies and beauty.
so who is really doing whom a favor?
Dear men appreciate the women in your lives always, coz it is not easy to be a woman.
*Being a woman is priceless*

Nuri Sushi Factory again

Yes I'm the type of girl that harps on the same thing over and over and brings up things in an argument that happened 10 years ago(or so my person says). Whenever I think sushi my brain immediately thinks NURI!
So when a friend of mine was in town obviously I would have to show him this amazing gem of a place!

After my last NURI post in like march which can be read here i'm back to brag of new things I tried on the menu. I still maintain that NURI is the ideal place to take someone that is too skeptical to try sushi. Imagine how amazing it felt when my darling of a buddy took his first piece of sushi and said "Wow! i'm definitely coming here next time" (With me ofcourse)
This the Blondmbition(R72)...to be honest the name intrigued me most
The blondMbition has 5pcs salmon crunch, 4 pcs salmon sashimi and 2pcs salmon roses

How freakin amazing doesnt this look!!!!

The second one is Rock shrimp roll (8pc) (R54)which is ridiculously cheap for all that goodness.
Its Spicy Tuna Californian rolls and Chive Californian rolls topped with a spicy deep fried Rock shrimp nugget sprinkled with spring onion and sesame seeds. OMG!

I absolutely adore this place and refuse to stop talking about it. If you havent checked it out yet and you live in CapeTown i do not forgive you. You missing out big time.

LaylatulMeraaj

Laytul Meraaj is a special day in our Household. Firstly because my brothers name is Meraaj and secondly because most of our family members contribute towards making  insanely huge pots of Boeber (a kind of porridge) that gets donated to the mosque.

The story of LaylatulMeraaj consists of two major parts. The first part of the story begins with the Prophet Muhammad at the Kabaa in Mecca. He is visited by two archangels who provide him with a mythical winged steed called the Buraq. The Buraq carries the Prophet to the 'Farthest Mosque,' believed by Muslims to be the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerselum, where Muhammad joins past prophets in prayer.
The Prophet then ascends to heaven where he is told by God of the duty for Muslims to pray five times daily (Salah). This second part of the journey is commonly referred to as the Miraj, an Arabic word meaning "ladder."
The events of LaylatulMeraaj are described briefly in chapter 17 of the Quran, which is named "Surah Al-Isra" after the Prophet's ascension to heaven. Many of the details of the story are filled in by hadith, supplemental writings about the life of the Prophet Muhammad.
Today LaylatulMeraaj is observed by Muslims as one of the most important events in the history of Islam. Muslims may attend special prayer services at a mosque, or they may commemorate the holiday privately at home by telling the story to children or reciting special nighttime prayers.

Its been said that today is a day of forgiveness and that now we know that Ramadaan(The month of fasting) is approaching. All day i have been receiving messages from people bombing me with the same impersonal broadcast asking for forgiveness for everything they have said or done willingly or unwillingly. It frustrates me actually because I feel why should I forgive people for things if tomorrow when this holy night is over they are just going to go back to their ways and continue doing the very things that they asked forgiveness for.

I guess we forgive not because people deserve forgiveness But because we deserve peace.

Waarhied?

So here's something for you people that are hell-bent on being judgemental all the time. So yes tonight is Leila'tul Mehraaj, one of the most auspicious nights for the Islamic religion, where you ask people forgiveness for all the wrong you have done, and anybody that you may have wronged knowingly or unknowingly. & one of the reasons for this special night, is also an indication that the month of Ramadaan will soon begin. And yes most of the muslim people who you see drink, party, go clubbing, pop mollys, and like going bos, but one noma they don't eat pork mybru, they dala whatever, but hos, no pork. All of them will start to seem more pious, more holy and more humble, during the month of Ramadaan. All the girls that post pictures of themselves half-naked,will now be taking pictures in Hijaab, and look very Masha'Allah. And everyone is going to make status about how all the muslims that party, and take half-naked pictures are soema Pious now and acting all religious. And we know this, because year in and year out the same things happen. & you know what? Its just the way things are? & maybe some people are not doing it for the right reasons, but I say as long as they have respect for the holy month, and if for atleast one month they become more pious, it will not be a month wasted. It is possible that while they're 'trying' to be religious, only good can come of it right? & yes after labarang people are going to drink again, party again, pop mollys, and possibly be crazier than before. And we already know this right? So to everyone that has something negative to say, or want to bad-mouth, some muslims for 'Soema' being religious, was nou die ander dag Live inni Concept met a klom tequila shots en n skirt wat haar julle hol wys, nou's hulle jul wat Religious en toe gesteek. LOL trust me we've heard it all before & I gaurantee we will hear it again. But I say aslong as the muslims have respect for this holy month of Ramadaan, then atleast they will have accomplished something good. Thank You & GoodNight

The Blend

I'm a mess without my morning coffee. Im not joking. With my super early mornings I usually leave the house without even brushing my hair nevermind putting the kettle on.

So on my way to campus every morning I pass a little coffeeshop that always makes me smile. They have this chalkboard on the sidewalk that has references thats bound to make your day. Located in Roeland Street the shop has a nostalgic feel to it. The perfect place to catch up on the latest gossip with a girlfriend, catch your morning brunch with your person or sit in with your new book.
And the coffee...OMG good stuff.

.

Unfortunatly they arent halaal so I couldnt tuck into those delicious looking sarmies But you try it for me and let me know what you think :)
