Education is a big deal in our family. So when we have ourselves a graduation you know its going to be a grand affair. Preparation for it started a couple of week before the actual event. We planners like that. My beautiful cousin Jawahir got her Law degree and had her graduation ceremony yesterday.
Well done J. On behalf of all of us... We are extremely proud of you!!
So instead of me writing a whole essay about the evening, I decided to share some of the pictures I took.

Quick gift: Cupcakes
As you should know now, I absolutely love birthdays... BUT instead of giving my people things they like...my cousin complained because I buy things I like.
Unfortunately (for the first time ever) I was lost as to what to by my Angel of a friend who I hadnt seen in forever. So I resorted to : CUPCAKES!!! (Another one of MY favourites)
Bake a few cupcakes, make them look awesome, put it on a nice plate and 'Spongebobs your uncle!
Make a cupcake mixture and put some of it in a separate bowl and make it your desired colour. I opted for chocolate so I just added cocoa and the what you want to do is fill the cup and take a smaller scoop of the other colour and just drop it on the top.
After that get as creative as possible! Theres so much you could possibly do with cupcakes. I decided to just do my icing and my plan was to pipe a letter of her name on each cupcake but I felt it looked better plain.
Add whatever sprinkles make you happy and place it in a cute little silver tray. Guaranteed to melt any heart(and in your mouth, mind you)
Happy Birthday Lynette. I hope this added to the sweetness of you day :)

Silent treatment
I confess, Silent treatment is one of my greatest weapons. ANd effectively so.
I know for a fact that most people I give "silent treatment" usually cracks and eventually I achieve whatever it is that I wanted. So yes in the short term its great. You have your partner (or anyone else really) wondering what they did wrong, what they can do to make it up to you and what they can do to get you to start talking again.
But let me advise you on how horrible it actually is. I for one know that just as I love giving silent treatment, being on the receiving end is even worse. I'm Generally a really stubborn person. Its my way or the highway. So even though this method usually shows results and even though im guilty of using it way to often, I urge you not to. Its actually a "Silent Killer" to any relationship. If I could use an example of my own, whenever I'm extremely mad I ignore him, completely shut him out and depending on the degree of anger, could possibly go a few days without even speaking to him. But why? What does it achieve?
In the long run, you create resentment. Its your own personal wedge that you yourself are driving between one another. So pretty soon you'll have him not caring about your little rants and eventually he'll respond(or not) by doing the same to you. In a relationship, you have the right to tell your spouse what it is exactly thats bothering you. Do NOT resort to silence. Sit down and talk about it. Listen to what the person is saying. APOLOGISE (and thats big coming from me). Say whats on your mind and be honest. "I dont like that you dont spend as much time with me as you used to" or "I feel that you have changed" and explain why you feel that way. If talking to your other half is really such a problem for you, ask yourself why. Communication, respect and unending love for someone is the base of any relationship in my opinion.
The worse thing you can do is bottle up your emotions. You'll end up confiding in the worst person ever and then you'll have resentment and regret. Great.
Sort out the problem at hand immediatly. Dont let it build up. Dont let your relationship suffer because of pettiness and miscommunication.
Oh and P.s
If you ever did need to talk... I'm always here :)

Nuri Sushi Factory
On monday I was introduced to Nuri. My friend had ordered a platter for her birthday and I had already heard so much about this place, obviously I was jump-off-the-rooftop-of-a-building excited!!!
And they have this thing where they say that once you try Nuri you'll be addicted...Its not a joke. I warn you. I had Nuri on Monday and I was so blown away Ive been craving for it all week. To a point where i even started crying because no one was getting me what I wanted. My ultra sweet sugarpie attempted to get me something from Freshstop (yes, the one in Belgravia road is actualy nice) it didnt matter because it wasnt Nuri. For 3 whole days I was literally miserable and then today I finally got my Nuri Sushi.
I dragged a friend along who had never eaten sushi before. I love doing that! I love being there, seeing the expression of a person who was trying something new...and guess what! She loved it!
Nuri is DEFINATLY the place to take someone who's skeptical about eating "Raw fish" as they would call it.
I unfortunatly couldnt have dessert as I was so stuffed. But Ill be a regular now so I plan on trying out the whole menu eventualy.

Food Inn India
Food Inn India, Based in Long street, Cape town is a 24hour eastern cuisine restaurant. The menu has a really wide variety so it would be the perfect place to go for a first date or well for any get together actually. The portions of food are really big and the prices are ridiculously cheap.
Obviously, for people who dont really have the guts(or stomach) for indian food theres a completely comfort-zone menu just for you :) like this Deeeelish burger and chips!
I cant seem to find the other pictures! GREAT! I'll update this post as soon as I do. The set-up is similar to The Eastern bazaar not too far from long street.
Id definatly recommend the Butterchicken and the chicken bunny-chows.
And the desserts look amazing as well
Please note The bunny-chow isnt actually made of bunnies. (I dont know, just felt the need to re-assure someone).
Halaal: yes
Wifi: no
Vibe: Take all your mates and chill_ perfect for those late Long street nights ;)

An inconveniant truth
‘An
inconvenient truth’ is a documentary like film by Vice President of the United
State in his campaign to educate citizens on a global scale about global
warming and the effects it has on earth. The movie was released in 2006 and
still continues to be used as reference for many climate change warnings.
Al Gore uses
means of a slide show to bring across his message. In the movie he emphasizes
that the rapid climate change issue is more a moral issue than it is political.
The creators of the film are attempting to communicate the drastic effects climate
change would have on the environment and by doing so they hope to achieve
changing the way people view things and become more involved and
environmentally aware of what is happening around us.
As we all
contribute to Global warming, corporate companies have contributed their fair
share. I like that Al uses snippets from famous cartoons to bring about a
humorous side even though this is such a serious matter. He makes an example of
Polar bears that’s mortality rate seems to be increasing way too fast. By the
drastic climate change, sea levels are rising and at the rate it is now, has
the potential to cover cities one at a time. Its our responsibility to take
care of our planet. The main of the movie is to be an eye0opener and hopefully
get people to adopt ‘greener’ habits.
Although the
seriousness of the matter is evident, Al still remains hopeful for the future. He
ends his presentation with ways in which we can help the environment. This is
an important stage. He beautifully stated “what we take for granted might not
be here for our children”.

Lush
I don't know about you, But when someone smells insanely good they have my attention instantly. So its no wonder why walking past the Lush handmade cosmetic store is so hard for me. You literally smell the sweet come-to-mama scents and aromas from the entrance of the mall. It didnt take much for me to drag along everyone who was with me to check it out.
I tried almost every product! I kid you not. The staff is so super amazing and full of energy I could probably have stayed there all day. They have cosmetics that's so versatile and its completely organic AND no products have been tested on animals. I just wanted everything!!! I was so close to just splurging on every item I had to remind myself every 5 minutes that I promised myself I could just get one.
I told my very helpful assistant that I was prone to breakouts especially on my chin and she recommended a face mask which she applied there and then in store. It felt and smelt out of this world. It comes in a little jar and is called Cupcake that needs to be kept in the fridge and lasts for about a month. (yes, im anxiously waiting for my brother to open the fridge, take out my cupcake, smell the deliciousness of it and attempt to eat my mud). So I had it on for 10 minutes and after it was removed I actually felt different. My face felt light and glowy.
Also there's so much happening in store. An assistant was demonstrating a shampoo that's apparently really great for dry scalp and this guy had his hair washed there. It was so fun to watch.
What I loved most was the gift sets. They are so eye catching and appealing I wanted to take all! But its one of my darlings birthday tomorrow so I decided to get her a gift set I thought she would appreciate. The box is super cute and the contents stole my heart.
Also another great thing is if you want to get someone something but you are on a budget you have the option of buying a scarf and choosing whatever products you want and wrap it up in the scarf. That way the person gets the products and also gets to use the scarf. Score right?
Its seriously on my list of Favorite stores. And keeps me coming back for more every single time.
Do check it out and get the full Lush experiance. You wont regret it.
Store in Cape-town at The VnA Waterfront and in Cavendish Square, Claremont and one recently opened in Durban at Gateway. I dont even need to say where they are situated in these malls. Go where the scent takes you :)
